Frequently asked questions.
How frequent are therapy sessions?
The frequency of therapy sessions varies depending on your goals, needs, and progress. Many clients find weekly sessions beneficial to start, allowing the opportunity to build momentum. As you progress, sessions may become less frequent, such as bi-weekly or monthly. Together, you and your therapist can decide on a frequency that feels supportive and effective.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes, we offer virtual therapy sessions to provide flexibility and convenience for our clients. Virtual sessions are conducted through a secure, confidential video platform, making therapy accessible from anywhere you feel comfortable.
What can I expect from a first session?
Your first session is an opportunity to get to know your therapist and for them to learn about you. You can expect a safe, welcoming space where you can share what brings you to therapy, your goals, and any concerns. Your therapist may ask about your personal history and current challenges to tailor the therapy approach to your needs. By the end of this session, you should have a clearer idea of how therapy might look moving forward and what steps you’ll be taking together.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require at least one business day (24 hours) notice for cancellations. If you need to cancel within this window, a fee equivalent to the full session rate may apply. This policy helps us respect everyone’s time and allows us to offer the time slot to others who may need it.
What are your fees?
Our fees are set in accordance with the Ontario Association of Social Workers guidelines, ensuring fair and accessible rates for professional therapy services. Please contact us directly, and we’ll be happy to provide further details.
Are therapy fees covered by insurance?
Most health insurance and benefit providers offer some coverage for psychotherapy services with a Registered Social Worker. However, it’s the client’s responsibility to pay for each session upfront and seek reimbursement from their insurance provider. We recommend checking with your insurance company to confirm the specifics of your coverage.
How will I know when I am finished therapy?
Therapy is a personal journey, and “finishing” can look different for everyone. Typically, you’ll know you’re ready to end therapy when you feel equipped to handle challenges on your own and have met the goals you set at the start. Throughout your time in therapy, you and your therapist will regularly review your progress and adjust goals as needed. When you feel confident, empowered, and ready, you can decide together when it’s the right time to bring therapy to a close. Therapy is always available should you wish to return for additional support in the future.
